DESCRIPTION:

MGA is committed to preparing Maryland's eldercare workforce. 

The field of aging is rapidly evolving. With advancing technologies, care models, and healthcare, there is a growing need for Maryland professionals to remain knowledgeable of the most relevant gerontology issues and industry trends. Join MGA each month for a member only Coffee Break with MGA speakers’ series. Attendees will participate in a 30-minute interactive conversation with community influencers and local disruptors who are at the forefront of innovative care solutions and strategies. 

 LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  

  • Define the highlighted aging-related issue.  
  • Recognize the impact of the identified aging-related issue. 
  • Describe strategies to address the identified aging-related issue. 

PRESENTERS:

Mark Tesoro is a Cognitive and Behavioral Health Specialist for the Maryland Department of  Aging (MDoA) where he manages the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias activities for  the department. His focus is on expanding services that build the dementia capability of the  aging services network in collaboration with local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), state partners,  and diverse stakeholders. He has extensive experience developing and successfully  implementing complex projects and public health programs. Prior to working at MDoA he  worked for a decade coordinating clinical, research, and grant activities at The Johns Hopkins  Hospital, Division of Cognitive Neurology. Mark has led multiple programs and coalitions  promoting health, equity, and safety and has a history of collaborating with community leaders,  state decision makers, and national experts to implement significant public health initiatives.  

Melissa Reuland is a senior Research Program Manager at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she manages translational research in home-based dementia care coordination programs.
