DESCRIPTION

A Financial Power of Attorney (POA) is a legal document that allows an  individual to appoint an agent to make financial decisions on their behalf. Whether you're planning  for yourself or supporting a loved one, this informative CLE session will equip you with essential  knowledge to make informed decisions about Financial POAs. PK Law’s Estate Planning and  Elder Law Attorney, Amy Griboff, and Bob Lucido Team of Keller Williams Lucido Agency’s  Senior Real Estate Expert, Victoria Hathaway, Realtor, CSA, CSHP, SRES, will discuss the  purpose and importance of a Financial POA, how it works, potential challenges and the financial  risks associated with not having one in place. The presenters will share their real-life experiences related to Financial POAs in the estate planning, elder law, and residential real estate arenas, with  the attendees.

PRESENTERS

Amy Griboff is a Member in the firm’s Wealth Preservation Group and has over 20 years of experience in estate planning, elder law, Medicaid planning, and estate administration. Ms. Griboff focuses her estate planning services on what is best for her clients.  She advises clients and their families on how to prepare for and pay for aging-in-place or downsizing to independent living, assisted living, or a nursing home.  Based on the specific wishes and needs of her clients, she designs customized wills, trusts, health care powers of attorney, and financial powers of attorney and seeks guardianships in court when health care and financial decisions need to be made, but the necessary legal documents are not in place to designate someone to do so.  She received her law degree, cum laude, from American University, Washington College of Law, and her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Elder Law from Stetson University in Florida.  Ms. Griboff frequently presents educational seminars both in person and remotely on a variety of estate planning and elder law topics.

Victoria B. Hathaway is Director, Silver Group of Bob Lucido Team of Keller Williams Lucido Agency, the Team’s international seniors real estate division. Her expertise is in helping older adults navigate the process of downsizing, home selling and relocating to easier lifestyles, providing education, guidance and resources. She serves as Commissioner for Howard County’s Commission on Aging, and she volunteers for the senior rideshare program Neighbor Ride.  Victoria also serves on the advisory boards for Johns Hopkins University’s Aging Studies and the National Association of Senior Advisors (NAOSA). She enjoys spending time with her family and two unusually calm Jack Russell Terriers.

POLICY FOR CLAIMING CEU CREDIT

Maryland Gerontological Association offers Category 1 Social Work CEU Credit  and 1 CMC Contact Hour to those that attend a live session and complete the evaluation by the posted deadline. 

To claim your CEU Credit:

1. Attend the session in its entirety.

2. Complete and return the mandatory program evaluation by the posted deadline.

Within 48 hours of the posted deadline, CEU certificates will be emailed to participants  who have completed the evaluation.  It is the responsibility of the participant to maintain accurate records of their credit hours.
